Cynthia Hibbard

President

Cynthia is a retired Vice President and Air & Climate Practice Leader at CDM Smith. She is dedicated to climate and environmental justice advocacy. In addition to serving on the Green Cambridge Board, Cynthia has served on City committees, and is a member of 350 Mass, Mothers Out Front, and the First Parish UU Environmental Justice Team. She studied Engineering, Physics, and Public Health at Harvard University.

Sukia Akiba

Vice President

Sukia is a social activist and an environmentalist. She has a Bachelors in Sociology from UMass Boston and a Masters in Global Health Policy and Management from the Heller School at Brandeis University. She is Nigerian and currently works with several organizations to improve the quality of life in Nigeria.

Louis Noble III

Board Member

Louis grew up in Cambridge and works as an accountant at the Environmental Protection Agency. He leads an internal team to do community outreach on environmental justice.

Byron Harvey

Board Member

Byron is deeply committed to a climate resilient future. He works as a software engineer at Booz Allen Hamilton. He studied Computer Science and Economics at University of Virginia.

​Sam Greene

Board Member

Sam is originally from Richmond, Virginia, but has lived in Somerville since 2019. She graduated from Tufts with a major in Psychology and a minor in Urban Studies, and is interested in combining aspects of these two fields through her work. She spent two years as a Program Coordinator at Green Cambridge, and is now the Community Engagement Coordinator at the Fenway Community Development Corporation. Sam works to consolidate and expand upon resources for Fenway residents, and is excited to continue to build community and connection. In her free time, she enjoys collaging, watching RuPaul’s Drag Race, rock climbing, and biking.

Amelia Charles

Board Member

With a focus on child poverty reduction and economic resilience, Amelia has 17 years of international experience in designing, managing, and coordinating programs that improve the lives of children and families in vulnerable situations. She specializes in strategic planning, resource mobilization, and technical expertise in social protection, food security, and livelihoods interventions in both emergency and development contexts in Africa, Middle East, and Central Asia. Amelia came to this career with a background in organic and biodynamic farming, having both worked on and led youth corps for small farms across New England.

Eppa Rixey

Board Member

Eppa moved to North Cambridge in 2019 and has worked on environmental sustainability in the area as a member of the Alewife Study Group since 2021. He is passionate about environmental justice, ecological restoration, and teaching the next generation to be good environmental stewards. He studies, teaches, and consults on organizational strategy, stakeholder analysis, and sustainability. Eppa has a PhD in Management from MIT Sloan, an MBA from UC Berkeley, and a B.Eng from Vanderbilt University. In his free time you can find him exploring urban nature, pulling invasive plants, and planting native host plants at home with his wife. 

​Minka VanBeuzekom

Treasurer

Minka is a real estate agent and former City Councillor. A board member since 2011, Minka has been a strong local advocate for the environment and worked on the Plastic Bag ban and Net Zero. Minka also serves on the board of the Mystic River Watershed Association. ​

Chris Scott

Board Member

Chris is a project manager in development and construction. He lives in Cambridge and works in the renewable energy industry, supporting projects that advance a more resilient, sustainable, and low-carbon future. Chris brings experience in community-focused nonprofit consulting, where he has supported organizations in strengthening their environmental and social initiatives. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Maryland and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).  

Julia Mintz

Clerk & Governance Chair

Julia is a Land Planner/Urban Design at VHB in Watertown, MA, and former Farm Coordinator with Green Cambridge, where she managed farm-based environmental education programming. She is a passionate environmentalist and certified permaculture designer with a focus on climate adaptation and planning more sustainable and resilient communities. Julia earned her B.A. in Geography and Environmental Studies from SUNY Geneseo and her Master of City Planning and Graduate Certificate in Applied Sustainability from Boston University.
