Volunteer with us

Volunteer events throughout the year create meaningful experiences that connect the community with this 136-acre outdoor classroom.

Green Cambridge leads interactive and educational outdoor events where community members can participate in general clean ups, invasive plant mapping and removals, or educational biodiversity and birding walks. These volunteer events provide fun, educational outdoor experiences and an opportunity for the public to make a direct impact on local environmental restoration.

Invasive Management

Invasive plant species are extremely prevalent in the Alewife, out-competing native biodiversity and disrupting vital ecological systems.

We depend on volunteers to help us take care of this important green space and help its native flora and fauna thrive.

Join Green Cambridge in Identifying and mapping invasive species using Earthwise Aware’s participatory science app Anecdata!

Stay up to date through our Eventbrite page for future removal events!

Nature Walks

Connect with community members through guided educational walks in the Alewife!

Join Green Cambridge for a fun time outdoors while learning about:

  • The history of the Alewife Reservation

  • Local bird & animal species

  • Biodiversity and ecosystem functions

  • Environmental benefits of wetlands

  • How to ID native & invasive plant species

  • Current advocacy issues
