"Our flora and fauna are residents in Cambridge just like us: We are part of their interconnected web of life. Through the arts and science, we teach how these furry, flying, and leafy neighbors help make our city more resilient, livable, and special."
When we teach environmental education, we’re investing Green Cambridge’s resources in bringing children’s affinity for flora and fauna into play—in events, workshops, art, and festivities. Our main vehicle for our emerging environmental education program is the Cambridge Wildlife Puppetry Project. Read about this community-based program here. Through the CWPP, we work in developmentally appropriate ways to enable kids not just to learn but to become curious and creative when it comes to engaging with nature. We build citizen science, art, and family-based informal events and programming, and distribute multilingual trading cards celebrating creatures of the urban environment.
