Residential Energy

Many Green Decade/Cambridge members are committed to lowering their home's greenhouse gas emissions. Through insulation, compact fluorescent lighting, composting, low flow toilets and water fixtures, programmable thermostats, solar thermal and solar photovoltaics and windmills, members have reduced the greenhouse gas emissions of their homes; one member cut their household emissions in half with no significant lifestyle change!

We hope that this information will encourage other Cambridge residents to take steps toward making their homes more energy efficient. We encourage residents to get started by calling Mass Save at 1-866-527-7283 and requesting an energy audit of their home together with a blow door test to measure air infiltration.

Residents can also register themselves for a consultation with the Cambridge Energy Alliance when this new program is launched some time in spring 2008.

Visit our Green Condo Wiki for more specific information about steps that you can take to make your Cambridge home more energy efficient.
